BAGHDAD, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) — The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Shiite militia group, claimed responsibility for a drone attack Tuesday on a site in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
The group said in a statement that the attack was conducted “in solidarity with the people of the Gaza Strip” and pledged to continue targeting “the enemy’s strongholds.”
The group also released a video of the drone launch.
The statement did not provide further details on the attacked site or report any casualties.
During the past two days, the group fired multiple drone and missile attacks on Israeli targets as tensions between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah escalated.
Since the onset of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has conducted many attacks on Israeli and U.S. targets in the region to support Palestinians in Gaza. ■
